EXPERIENCE
Jan '05 - June '05 Sole
Proprietor BOGOH
Launched BOGOH in Jan 2005 - A unique range of handcrafted
bags & accessories that I design and make from unusual
vintage fabrics and other vibrant materials. During these
critical first months I have been working on setting up the
basic building blocks of the business, and now have a secure
online shop as well as 3 select stockist in Yorkshire. From
day to day I am wholey responsible for all aspects of the
business, from making the products, to advertising and marketing
through print and web mediums, stock control and then finally
product delivery to the customer.

April '04 - Dec '05 Creative
Consultant – Kingston Communications Publishing Services
In April '04 I was promoted to Creative Consultant working
with the marketing department, which allowed us to give maximum
focus to promoting the company's cored products - The Hull
Colour Pages and Web Design Services. I had the creative freedom
and responsibility to come up with eye catching campaigns
in Hull and surrounding areas, experimenting with delivery
methods and materials, and measuring the success of each campaign.
I also worked with marketing departments from other divisions
within the group on their marketing campaigns - namely Contact
Centres, East Yorkshire Division and Business Services. I
used mainly Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Microsoft
Office and Quark.

Aug ’01 – April '04 Creative
Team Leader – Kingston Publishing Services (A division of
Kingston Communication (HULL) PLC)
I joined the Studio based at Kingston Publishing Services,
the Directory Production Division of KC. Kingston Publishing
Services had previously not had a web department and I was
able to help with the creation of processes for the implementation
of Web Design within the Studio.
In April ’02 I was promoted to Team Leader of Web Design and
Creative Artwork for the Studio, responsible for designing,
delegating and organising all web and creative artwork that
came into the Studio including all internal marketing material
and speculative artwork for directory advertising. This involved
ensuring that all artwork is of a high standard and that it
conforms to artwork rules and brand guidelines - delivered
on time and within budget.
I also worked closely with the marketing department and played
a great part in the development of the Hull Colour Pages and
other Kingston Publishing Services products. The creative
marketing material includes logos for new products, press-advertisements,
mail-shots, posters, artwork for mugs, newsletters, sales
literature, stickers and large artwork for bus sides. This
also includes the cover, preface and fillers for the Hull
Colour Pages Directory.
My other responsibilities included the design and development
of aesthetic brochure style web sites for SMEs in Hull and
Surrounding areas, as well as giving guidance and support
to my team of 4 designers. This includes staff briefing, time
management and a great deal of diplomacy.
Nov ’00 – Aug ’01 Senior
Designer - Kingston Inbusiness (A division of Kingston Communication
(HULL) PLC)
I took the role of one of the Senior Designers within a larger
Studio, helping others that had also recently joined. Although
my role was primarily the same as my role at Kingston Internet
my responsibilities grew, working on larger web-related projects
and often leading a team. After attending an intensive Hand
Coding HTML Course my skillset was further developed and I
was made responsible for the design as well as the development
of web sites.

Apr ’99 – Nov ’00 Graphic
/ Web Designer - Kingston Internet (A division of Kingston
Communication (HULL) PLC
I was hired as a Web / Graphic Designer. During this time
I gained a much greater knowledge of the internet and the
workings of a well-designed and navigable web site. I also
gained more confidence consulting clients and improved my
communication and presentation skills. I learnt a great deal
more about putting the design process into practice. I was
involved in this process from first contact and discussion
with the client, where information and requirements were gathered,
through to concept creation and presentation back to client,
etc until final launch and sign off. At this point I would
converse with a developer who would convert my concepts into
workable web sites. Most of my job involved designing web
sites using Photoshop and Dreamweaver, although it was also
my responsibility to design various paper-based advertisements
for newspapers and business magazines, as well as company
literature, using mostly Illustrator, Photoshop or Quark when
necessary.
Jan ’97 – Dec ’97 Worked in Reservations,
Reception and Account Department of Killarney Hotel, Durban.
This involved conversing with customers on a one to one basis
on the phone and face to face, as well as various other clerical
activities.
Jan ’96 – Dec ’98 Head Bar Person in The
Med Night Club, Durban. I was also responsible for stock-taking
as well as balancing the tills at the end of the evening.
Jan ’95 – Dec ’98 Designed
various pamphlets, posters, brochures and T-Shirts for the
Four Seasons Hotel Group, Durban. These were mainly to promote
special events run by the various clubs and bars within
the hotels.
Jan ’94 – ‘Dec ’94
Worked Part-time in Durban Tourism Information Office on
Durban Beachfront, helping tourists with queries as well
as booking tours.
